The PPBA fields lit up and came to life on Monday night as two of the three hometown teams took to the diamond to grab bragging rights to a win in the season opener. Pali Blue went head-to-head against Pali White. JK went on the mound for Pali White and hummed through 4 innings on 47 pitches, giving up only 2 hits, 2 walks & 1 run against 15 batters. AF came in to face 14 batters, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, 2 runs. Pali White scored on hits by AF, BK, DR, KN, KM and TG in a display of strong contact hits. Always a formidable opponent, Pali Blue saw speed and control come off of the mound as AP and BE kept the strike zone alive and popping. Never to be outdone or outplayed, Pali Blue worked hard to capitalize on hits and walks by GD, BE, CP, JF & PC which converted into runs crossing the plate in the 4th, 5th and 6th inning. A great first outing by both teams and a tremendous display of sportsmanship on a rather cool night in the coastal town of the Pacific Palisades.

SM Blue 6 7
SM Red 7 4
In what will be a friendly, but very competitive series of games, the SM Red defeated the SM Blue 7 – 6 in the teams first meeting. The game was a see-saw battle which saw both teams take the lead during the game helped by timely hitting and defensive gems. There were enough close plays at the plate that this one could have gone either way, and it was Corn R's defense in the last inning that resulted in one more would-be scorer being gunned down at home to preserve the Claw's win.

The offense, sparked by a bases-loaded single by Daniel A. got the "Dogs" going in the first, and heads-up "at-bats" by Zach D., and Daniel S. helped put baserunners into scoring position in later innings. Jackson M, Derek M., and Maxwell M. all contributed on both sides of the ball, and consistent pitching by Prudence B and Dylan allowed the Sea Dogs to stay in the game.

Soon after the it was a duel by both pitchers but for three innings the Kevin was able to maintain the Indians on a score of 1 to 2.   Pali Blue squeeked out an extra inning battle in one of the most exciting games in Field of Dreams history. Cade H. for Red and Anthony P. for Blue each posted impressive starts, with Blue ahead 3-1 after 3 innings. Brett E. came in for Blue in the 4th and Red managed 3 scrappy runs on only one hit to go up 4-3. Those were the last runs Brett would surrender, however. Jonathan S. pitched 3 solid innings for Red, giving up only one run. Alex K. scored the tying run in the 6th on some daring base running, leaving the game tied going into the 7th. Each team was scoreless in the 7th and Brett E. shut down a Red rally in the top half of the 8th, posting his 9th K of the night to end the inning. The pressure was intense as Preston C. stepped into the box in the bottom half against new pitcher Wylie B. The tension didn't last long as Preston took the first delivery from Wylie deep into the Palisades night for a colossal round tripper and the win for Blue.   A two week hiatus for Spring break brought a little bit of rust to Pali White's game and it took a lot of grease to get the gears working again. AF started on the mound for Pali and kept the Claws on a tight rope through a few strong innings. The Claws converted two errors into 2 runs to stay neck-and-neck with White. JK came into the game and did a superb job pitching, but his real strength came in the 6th inning with a 2 RBI shot to the right center gap that brought in 2 runs that put Pali in the lead for the remainder of the game. Exceptional defensive plays by TN gave AF and JK the back up they needed to keep the Claws at bay. Notable efforts by the Claws ZB at SS with very strong pitching by F did made Pali White work very hard for every inch of the game. It was great to be back in action and hats off to an evenly matched game between Pali and their friendly neighbors in CH.

The Benjinator threw a complete game no hitter, and went 3-3 with a BoB in an awesome day - it must have been the impromptu chat with the coach following the first inning. Either that, or the great support of his teammates, including excellent defensive plays by Drew L and Jesse B to preserve the no hitter, and contributions at the plate by everyone - everyone scored, including Claw friends Joey, Maxwell, Jackson, and the original Li'l Pincher and #1 Baby Claw, Ethan L. Get better soon everyone that is hurt, you know who you are, though the bench time is helping Noah at the plate - dude, seriously, keep up the good hitting. Sammy and Adam, we missed you last game when the Storm played that music backwards and wrecked us completely - we got a few balls to drop in, but most of our hits kept on hitting the Great Wall of Leather (that's in Israel, right?) - that Jack M kid was everywhere in that game. Both teams ended up thanking their fans together, and wishing the moms a Happy Mothers Day - you're a class act, boys.

Riding on the arm of Dylan I. who pitched a masterful game for the Sea Dogs, the Dogs won their 7th game in a row. Kudos to Benjie K, who also delivered a superb pitching effort for the Claws.

The Palisades Field of Dreams was the perfect place for the the 100th, and last official game, of the season. Pali White took an early lead with a two run HR by Alexander F. Pali Blue scored on a delicately placed fly ball to left field by Connor P. Strong pitching by Alexander F. held blue through 4. Joey V. came in middle relief and Aidan F. rounded out a nice pitching compliment to the pitching rotation. Nice heads up plays by Jackson K at catcher helped remove runners (twice) from the bases. The capping off point for the night was Joey V.'s first PPBA homer in a 2 run shot that put White ahead for the rest of night. Despite the night time chill, it was a warm meeting of two friendly rivals.
